Temporary Skill Shortage Visa (Subclass 482)

This visa allowed to employer to bringing skilled worker due to cover skill shortage of Australian worker. Applicant can be inside or outside Australia, if in Australia you must hold substantive visa or related bridging visa.

 

Cost=$4,240;
Processing time: 4-12 months;
Age: under 45 years
Must have skill in SOL, 3 years of experience, and a valid positive skill assessment and an approved employer to sponsor.

Applicant must be a holder of 457/494 or 482 subclass of visa and must have worked for that employer for 3 years. Cost and other benefits and requirements are nearly the same as 186 and 187 subclass visas.

Direct entry stream: this visa is granted to applicants nominated by SBS employer.
Temporary residence transition stream: applicants holding and worked for 3 years under 457 and 482 visa can apply under this stream if nominated by the same employer in most cases.
Labor agreement stream: the standard business sponsor must have a labor agreement with the government and that occupation is mentioned in that agreement.

 

This visa along with RSMS, short-skill visa, Designated area migration scheme and others assists the skill shortage in Australia. In General skill migration applicant is the Centre of focus whereas, in ENS needs of an Australian established business is the prime focus.

 

Short Stream: Cost=$1,330; processing Time: 1-15 months; occupation must be in short term migration skill occupation list, priority is given to occupations in: Priority Migration Skilled Occupation List (PMSOL)

·        Experience: 2 years at least

·        Age: no age limit

·        English and skill assessment are mandatory unless exempted

·        Nomination: must be nominated by an approved SBS in the occupation listed in STSOL (Short-Term Skilled Occupation List  (STSOL).)

·        Have a valid positive skill assessment in the field in which applicant is nominated.

 

Medium-term stream: 482

·        Cost: $2,770, must have occupation listed in medium-term skill occupation list.

·        Age: no age limit, have positive skill assessment,

·        Experience: 2 years of experience in the nominated field.

·        English: must meet minimum requirement of English proficiency

Labor agreement stream

·        Cost: $2,770; Processing time: 1-7 months

·        sponsor must have an agreement with the government with the occupation mentioned in it.

·        Age: No age limit, have positive skill assessment,

·        Experience: 2 years of experience in the nominated field.

·        English: must meet minimum requirement of English proficiency

 

General Skill Migration

·        General eligibility criteria for state/territory sponsored skilled visas:

·        Migration (LIN 19/051: Specification of Occupations and Assessing Authorities) Instrument 2019.

·        These visas are designed to meet the skill shortage in Australia. A detailed list of skills shortage in current Australian labor market is released every year, and an applicant with occupation in this skill shortage list can apply for expression of interest and for visa after being invited. Designated areas are further described by instrument IMMI 16/044

 

Stages involved

Stage 1: Registration of expression of interest in skill select in one of the short skill occupations.

Stage 2: Invitation from the minister to apply for a visa

Stage 3: Visa application with all relevant documents within 60 days of receiving an invitation.
